The Poland/Ukraine bid was elected by UEFA on the 18th April 2007. The bid of Poland/Ukraine is higher than that of Italy and Croatia/Hungary. It had been decided that the EURO 2012 will be held at Arena Football Gdansk. Arena Football Gdansk is also called PGE Arena Gdansk.
The EUFA 2012 tournament is the last European Championship that will be participated by 16 nations. The next EUFA Championship which is Euro 2016 will have 24 participating nations. Oleksandr Lukyanchenko announced that most of the funding of the EUFA Championship will be derived from the municipal budgets.
The stadium where the EUFA 2012 will be held is going to be built by Max Boegl. Max Boegl is a contractor based in Wroclaw. The headquarter of Max Boegl is in the Polish city of Wroclaw. Previously, the construction contract of the stadium belongs to Mostostal Warszawa. Wroclaw ended the contract because of the delays in the stadium construction. Mostostal Warszawa had already delayed the construction of the stadium for 4 months. The Mayor of Wroclaw, Rafal Dutkevich said that the termination of the contract will not affect the implementation of the stadium operation for the EUFA 2012 championship. According to Rafal, he decided to terminate the contract because he saw that the Mostostal Warszawa is unable to finish the construction project. Mostostal appealed for the termination of the contract by arguing that the delay is caused by a factor that cannot be controlled by the company.
Castrol is involved in an agreement with the Union of European Football Association. Castrol will be the official sponsor for the 2012 Euro tournament. The partnership gives Castrol an opportunity to be a global partner in the European Championship. The director of sales in Castrol, Wojciech Mora said that they are aware that the viewers are constantly finding information about the football game, players and performance analysis. Therefore, they plan to create a unique analytical method called Castrol Index for the audience. Castrol has also signed partnership agreement with other football associations including International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA), and World Cup 2010 in South Africa.
Petro Poroshenko, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, had invited the UAE to become involved in the preparations of the Euro 2012. The authorities have spent more than 1 billion UAH to build the roads to the stadium for the EUFA 2012. The full amount of the payment is scheduled to the paid to the general contractors by the end of 2012. They are facing problem in supplying the full payment because of the recent global economy downturn. However, the main income of the Ukraine includes duty on the petroleum products, and traffic funds.
Vladimir Demura revealed that Sumy Porcelain Plant is in the process of producing souvenirs that bear the symbol of Euro 2012. They got the idea to manufacture the souvenir immediately after Michel Platini show the Kiev logo Euro 2012.
